Valmet, a global leader in the process industry, faced an urgent need to recruit engineers across several offices in Sweden: Sundsvall, Karlstad, Gothenburg, and Stockholm. With 80 positions to fill, the challenge was to act fast: all within just 10 weeks.

Challenge

The target audience included both recent graduates and experienced engineers. But it wasn’t just about generating applications — success started with something more fundamental: increasing awareness of Valmet as an employer. While well-known in the industry, Valmet’s employer brand needed to be sharpened, awakened, and showcased authentically.SMW Group was tasked with creating a powerful, effective 10-week recruitment campaign that combined awareness with traffic-driving messages. The main goal: attract the right candidates — and do it fast.

Solution

We built the campaign using our proven synergy approach, where each phase has a clear objective. The campaign was divided into three phases: Introduce, Imagine/Impress, and Interact.The strategy included multiple channel choices and tailored content that highlighted Valmet’s company culture, values, employees, and open positions — all designed to speak directly to the target audience: engineers.

Phase 1

Although Valmet is well-known in the process industry, the initial goal was to raise awareness of Valmet as an employer. This involved introducing the employer brand to the target audience, building data and insights, sparking curiosity, and generating exposure for the second phase.

Phase 2

Phase two focused on Valmet’s strongest asset: their people. We showed the target audience what it’s really like to work at Valmet through employees’ eyes, while highlighting the company’s values and helping candidates see if they fit.

Phase 3

Time to get applications rolling! With a strong call to action, this phase focused on driving applications and simplifying the process. Carousel cards highlighted different workplace aspects and linked straight to available positions, making it easy for candidates to apply.
